Australian ACMA blocks 12 illegal gambling websites
The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has ordered internet service providers to block 12 illegal online gambling websites that were found to be operating in breach of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001. The latest domains on the blocklist include Abu King, BetAlice, Dragon Slots, Nova Jackpot, Power Up Casino, QuickWin, Roby Casino, Rocketspin, Rooster Bet, Vegasino, Vegas Now and Winbay. Blocking access at the ISP level is part of ACMA’s ongoing enforcement strategy to protect Australian consumers from unlicensed gambling operators that lack proper consumer protections and can expose users to financial risk. Since ACMA made its first blocking request in November 2019, it has now restricted access to around 1,455 illegal gambling and affiliate websites, and around 220 illegal services have exited the Australian market amid stricter regulations. ACMA continues to remind players to verify that a wagering service holds a valid licence in Australia before engaging with it.
