Cloudflare ‘Resists’ Piracy Blocks, U.S. Govt. Opposes EU Co-Op Obligations
Cloudflare and other tech intermediaries are pushing back against court orders in Europe to block access to pirate site domains and public DNS resolvers. A key case in France, initiated by Canal+, targeted Cloudflare and Google to deny access to a list of streaming sites via public DNS. Meanwhile, the U.S. government has reportedly instructed its diplomats in Europe to oppose parts of the EU’s Digital Services Act (DSA) that would impose stronger cooperation obligations on intermediaries with rights-holders.
