From CLICK to CRIME: investigating intellectual property crime in the digital age
Europol recently convened a high-level conference under the banner “From CLICK to CRIME,” bringing together law-enforcement agencies, industry stakeholders and policymakers to address how digital-age platforms and technologies are facilitating intellectual-property (IP) crime.
The conference spotlighted the growing threats of online counterfeiting, illegal streaming, cyber-enabled piracy and malware-linked IP crime.
Speakers stressed the need for enhanced public-private collaboration, intelligence-sharing across borders, and more advanced digital investigative tools to protect creative industries and consumer safety in a rapidly evolving digital environment.
The event underscored that IP crime is no longer a niche problem but a core part of the organised criminal economy—requiring the same urgency and resources as other forms of serious crime.
