Historic breakthrough in the global fight against football piracy
France has achieved a significant milestone in combating football piracy. A French court has mandated that VPN services block access to illegal streaming sites broadcasting Ligue 1 matches, marking a global first in anti-piracy efforts. The Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) lauded this ruling as a major advancement in the fight against unauthorized broadcasts. This decision aligns with broader European initiatives, including Spain’s intensified measures against piracy under LaLiga President Javier Tebas. The LFP anticipates that this ruling will facilitate a smoother transition as it plans to launch its own broadcasting channel next season, following the conclusion of its agreement with DAZN.
